Vision & brief

First Courtyard Hotel in Mandawa draws its identity from an inward-looking pool court. Architecture, interiors and landscape are brought together around this shared centre, offering a hospitality setting in which regional texture and contemporary ease can coexist.

Design response

The courtyard provides a way to organise both the buildings and the guest experience. Shaded circulation connects the accommodation and shared spaces while keeping the pool and open sky as points of reference. The design balances a cohesive architectural character with moments of variation at the arrival, café and verandah. Its sense of retreat is created through these changes of enclosure, not by isolating every space.

Material & detail

The material palette combines pale rubble stone, lime-plaster surfaces, dark metal verandahs and timber. Arched passages and restrained planting add depth without overwhelming the courtyard. At the pool edge, solid walls, shade and reflected light become the principal visual experience. The regional language is contemporary architecture informed by Mandawa, bringing local references into a coherent hospitality setting.
