Brick, metal and motorcycle culture.
A motorcycle-inspired cafe shaped through brick, metal, reclaimed objects and a warm theatrical glow.
Vision & brief
On Sirsi Road in Jaipur, Gallon 56 reimagines a former motorcycle service centre as a café and lounge. Motorcycle culture supplies more than a theme: it gives the conversion a connection to the building’s previous life. The setting is sociable and deliberately tactile, inviting guests to settle in rather than simply pass through.
Design response
The design question was how to accommodate arrival, reception, relaxed seating and dining within a shared volume without dissolving its industrial character. Rope, timber and furniture establish changes of use rather than enclosing every zone. A richly coloured entrance passage builds anticipation before the room opens out; the glazed frontage brings daylight into the deeper, darker interior.
Material & detail
Exposed brick and metal form the background to green upholstery, timber tables and focused pools of light. Motorcycle components and reclaimed objects become carefully placed fixtures and details. The mesh frontage gives the café a layered street presence, while the interior brings the scale back to a table, a conversation and an object discovered close at hand. Its identity comes from the relationship between reuse, atmosphere and everyday hospitality—not from surface decoration alone.
